Urban Planning: Theory and Design for a Changing World introduces students to regional planning and development theories, techniques and approaches. Understanding of networks of development actors at community and regional scales, methods of delineating regions, links between theory and practice in planning and development. Focus on Canadian experiences and a sustainable development perspective.

How is this course relevant to urban geography?

This course will help students understand the factors that are considered when planning an urban area, and will be particularly relevant for those who are considering a career or further studies in urban planning. One of the course assignments will give students experience in preparing a planning report and presenting design ideas to the community.
