Dr. Daniel Kudla

Assistant Professor

Dr. Kudla is an urban sociologist, criminologist, and social theorist. His main area of focus is on the policing and revitalization of urban spaces and its implications on marginalized populations. He is particularly interested in studying the everyday politics and justification of urban policies and order maintenance strategies. His recent work focuses on the revitalization of commercial spaces; specifically, the role of Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) in the planning, organization, and control of contemporary urban spaces. He engages with various ideas within cultural sociology, the pragmatic sociology of critique, and critical urban studies.
